This past week I have been concentrating on making some of my shots work in a 1 by 1 or square ratio. I think this format works particularly well with flowers. Here are some of the results of this exercise.

The zoo was less than expected, but the flower gardens were overwhelmingly beautiful. The first image below expresses my state of mind when I was surrounded by the kaleidoscope of flowers in well-planned and well cared for gardens. While the colors were spectacularly vibrant, I have included one black-and-white rose to emphasize the sensuous beauty of roses. Hope you get a sense of the peaceful power of this place. Enjoy.

These three leftovers from 2013 all focus on flora. The first is a black-and-white that I like from a path along a nature center. The second is my favorite picture (so far) of one of our roses. The last is from a birch backed by pines in a nearby golf course. Each, in different ways, introduced themselves to me and my lens.
