Village Windows

Last Friday we met our three sons and their families – plus my mom (who drove from western New York) – at Greenfield Village , near Detroit. The village is a collection of transported and refurbished historical homes and buildings. It was a very hot and humid day, but a delight to all be together before our youngest and his family head to England for a few years. I didn’t realize how many window pictures I had taken until I got them on my computer. Here are some of my favorites. See if you can imagine a story to connect with the windows, because I can’t remember whose window belongs with whom.

Sculpture

The Meijer Gardens have sculpture all throughout the property, including a large Sculpture Park. Here are some of the art pieces that caught my eye.

Reflections

On a sunny day, the man-made lake in the Japanese Gardens provides a number of opportunities for reflection shots. These are all from there except for the dragonflies, which were taken at a smaller pond in the Sculpture Park. Enjoy reflecting on reflections.

Water Lilies and Lotus Blossoms

The Meijer Japanese Garden has been open for just over a year and is maturing well. We went there with out-of-town friends Dale and Nancy. The next few posts will be from there and a koi pond along a different trail in the gardens. The water lilies and Lotus blossoms occupied much of my shutter attention, so much that I will put the images in two posts. Part 2 will go up tomorrow. Hopefully you can close to the joy I had in photographing the water lilies and Lotus blossoms.

Still Later

Near the end of our morning’s adventure we came across  a web and these buildings far back from the road.

Later that Same Day

After the golden hour passed, Pat and I continued seeking our preferred gravel roads. We like these roads because the traffic is less and we can take our time looking for potential photo stops.
