Sandhill Cranes are abundant in our part of Michigan. For a couple of years I have been trying to get a quality shot of a Sandhill. They are very skittish and typically move away when they see you . . . even at distances of a hundred yards or more. These images were taken in a cul-de-sac where someone had left food out for them. They were used to people so I was able to get within about 20 feet. Learn more about Sandhills – including their raucous rasping call – here.
These turned out really nice. Good lighting and clarity.
